Raw Tapes is an eclectic, soulful Tel-Aviv label that was born from the local beat scene. They've announced their upcoming compilation Puzzles Vol. 4, with the release of the first track which sees instrumentalist Beno team up with MC ECHO, offering up a lovely slice of funk on 'Where Do We Go'. The compilation also features tracks from iogi, Buttering Trio, Masok, Liquid Saloon and many more. Smooth whirly-style keys open the track, followed by a good groove on the drums and a sunlit bass line that brings the warmth. Written from a stream of consciousness, ECHO raps in English, with a twang of an Israeli accent, as she explains "My soul is tired, let it feel full. My love is endless, let it be born." She also asks captivating questions concerning pride and human rights, "Did I deny myself the joy of being alive, did I deny myself the joy of being loved?". The single is an exciting start to the compilation; we look forward to hearing the rest, but for now, we'll bask in the soul-searching, peace advocating vibrations of 'Where Do We Go'. -Ellie Rose-Davies
